Monture Guard Station

The Lolo National Forest’s Monture Guard Station sits at the Dunham and Monture Creeks’ confluence in the Blackfoot Valley near the Bob Marshall Wilderness. The agency selected Monture’s location and built the Guard Station in 1920 so that rangers could better monitor the Anaconda Company’s logging along a disputed forest boundary. Lolo staff occupy the station during summer months and the Forest rents it in the winter to the public through National Forest Recreational Rental Cabin Program.
