McCone County wouldn’t be the same without . . .

What historic or archaeological resource in McCone County do you think is worthy of preservation?

The Gladstone Hotel in Circle, Montana, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980 and represented one of McCone County’s two official entries. Unfortunately, the historic and beloved hotel, and arguably the last piece of standing original history in Circle, burned down this past September.

Documenting cultural resources across Montana’s rural landscapes is one way to preserve our state’s rural heritage into perpetuity. While landscapes change and resources are lost or damaged, a written record will continue to tell our stories.
